Say Goodbye to Paper: Embrace a Digital Time Tracker Program

Embrace a Digital Time Tracker Program | TimeMoto
In today’s fast-paced work environment, tracking working hours is crucial. As labor regulations across Europe evolve, businesses must adapt to new standards. Embracing digital time recording ensures compliance and boosts efficiency.

The Spanish Ministry of Labour is actively negotiating with trade unions and employers to reduce the working day from the current 40 hours to 38.5 hours this year, and further to 37.5 hours in 2025. This agreement includes a reform of the time register to ensure companies comply with the new working hours.

Mandatory Use of a Digital Register

In March 2019, the government amended Article 34 of the Workers’ Statute, which came into effect in May 2019. This amendment established the obligation to record the start and end of the working day. Since then, employers have been required to keep a daily record of working hours, maintain these records for four years, and ensure they are accessible to employees, legal representatives, and labour and social security inspectors.

The current draft bill on working time reduction also proposes a reform of the working time register to ensure companies adhere to legal working time limits and prevent falsification of records. One significant improvement is the mandatory use of a digital register from the publication of the new law.

Why are Clocking in Digital Systems Important?

Clocking in digital systems are crucial for legal compliance, as it clearly identifies each worker, noting entry and exit times, breaks, absences, holidays, and hours assigned to projects. Additionally, a robust record-keeping system enhances payroll accuracy, boosting efficiency and productivity.

Impact on Small Businesses and the Self-Employed

All companies, regardless of size or industry, will be required to maintain a digital record of working hours. This includes small businesses and self-employed individuals with employees. Similar to the obligation to issue electronic invoices, companies will have a transition period to adopt a digital system. However, compliance is essential to avoid significant penalties and other legal consequences.

Prepare now to operate under the new legal framework by implementing TimeMoto as your digital time and attendance solution.
