Why do I need to record work hours in Austria?

If you run a business in Austria, you should be aware that you are obligated to record the working time of your employees. Recordings should include daily working time, the start and end times of each working day, and breaks.

There are no exceptions to this rule: all working hours must be recorded for all businesses, even ones with only one employee. However, employees with a fixed time schedule do not need additional documentation of their recorded working time. Only deviations must be recorded.
